Riyad Mahrez won't consider a move to Arsenal given the north London club's dramatic regression, according to former Chelsea midfielder Dennis Wise.

Leicester's Riyad Mahrez and Monaco attacker Thomas Lemar have been linked with moves to Anfield but Arsenal legend Henry doesn't feel Jurgen Klopp has to splash the cash to fill the void left by the Brazilian.

Recent reports suggested the Algerian was close to moving to the Reds in a deal worth around £50million following Philippe Coutinho's departure to join Barcelona on Saturday.

However, Claude Puel believes that Mahrez is happy at Leicester City, and is determined that his star player will not be put off by speculation.

Mahrez has long been linked with a move away from Leicester.

"They're in a position now where someone like him has got to go there and really pull up trees to get Arsenal back to where they need to go", he said, referencing the fact that the Gunners may see both Alexis and Mesut Ozil leave on Bosman deals.

Internationally, he has been capped thirty-four times for his country, scoring eight times and he appeared at the 2014 World Cup finals.

"I have no problem with him".

"But if you want the truth, we don't know anything about this".

"It is actually scary as look at the actual amount of goals he scores, but also look at the amount of goals he missed - one versus one, not easy goals at the end of the day, because they are not easy".

The 26-year-old was named PFA Player of the Year after helping to inspire Leicester to a remarkable Premier League title triumph, but then regressed somewhat as he sought a switch elsewhere.
