"We couldn't get him to agree to a 15-year deal, so this is the best we got", Sharp jokingly told the Chronicle. But a $7.5 million salary (his contract's average annual value) would not only have ranked third in college football this season, it would also rank among the largest salaries for a coach in all of sports.

The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents publicly spoke Jimbo Fisher's name for the first time Monday morning, just before authorizing Texas A&M University President Michael K. Young to execute a contract to make him one of the highest-paid college football coaches in the country.

Texas A&M, which moved to the SEC in 2012, is 25-23 in the conference, including 19-21 since going 6-2 in its first season. "It's not necessarily an apples-to-apples comparison when you look at the fully guaranteed basis, but we reached a conclusion that this was in line with what other coaches of national prominence [make]". "When it comes to facilities its all about recruiting, all about the flash and all about recruiting big-time talent".

Jimbo Fisher had a curious comment during his Texas A&M introduction that might raise a few eyebrows at Florida State.

The Aggies signed Fisher to a 10-year, $75 million contract to lure him away from Florida State, a place where he captured the 2013 national title and won three Atlantic Coast Conference championships in eight seasons. He was interested in what his old friend had to say. Then Jimbo quietly went about his business until going HAM on Courtney after the Seminoles beat Michigan in the Orange Bowl.

Now, Fisher and Woodward have been reunited.

ACC commissioner John Swofford commended the job that Fisher did at FSU.
