RB Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick has responded to rumours linking Real Madrid with a move for star forward Timo Werner: "Not in January and not in the summer".

The highly-rated 21-year-old has seen his stock rise considerably since joining Leipzig on the back of their promotion to the Bundesliga in 2016.

Real Madrid are among those reported to be closely monitoring his situation, while Werner has admitted in the past that he dreams of one day representing Manchester United. Currently, the Spanish Giants are lagging behind Barcelona by 8 points.

The young forward finished the last Bundesliga campaign with 21 goals and five assists, and has continued that form into this season, grabbing seven goals and two assists in 11 appearances so far.

However, Rangnick has hit out at speculation claiming that the Germany international will be joining Zinedine Zidane's side in the near future.

But Rangnick said: "In winter nor in summer: We will keep Timo Werner with us. We are engaged in intensive talks with his agent". "These are things I do not take seriously", Ragnick added while talking about the reports in Spanish media. The striker, owing to his spectacular performances, has gained the eye of numerous top dogs.

However, what could be scuppering a possible deal is that Werner has trouble with his ears. The Bavarians are having a hard time in absence of an alternative to Robert Lewandowski.

Werner also said he is in no hurry to make a move away from the Red Bull Arena.
