The Mirror source has also claimed that Jose is happy to offer Rose double his current wages in order to reel him in.

Saturday was largely a day to forget for Tottenham Hotspur fans, as they saw their side beaten 2-0 in the North London Derby by Arsenal, but despite the despair of that result there was one positive thing to happen.

In recent comments published on the club's website, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino confirmed that Erik Lamela would not be rushed back into first-team action. "The competition is so tough and to get fit and be again ready to cope with the pressure of 90 minutes is so difficult".

The majority of the Tottenham fans recognised that and many took to social media on Saturday to welcome the star back from his injury nightmare.

The return of Lamela should be seen as a boost as he will provide more options in what is likely to be a very busy second half to the campaign for all connected with Spurs.

He made it clear that there is no issue between the club and the player, and that he feels the press capitalised on the defeat and decided to make a story where there wasn't one. "I would like to achieve more; to be first and not second and win cups", he said.

"We need of course the strikers to contribute, to defend".

"This is the main target for the team because we hear from outside about playing for the title, blah blah blah".

"We have been the last three years in the top four".

Spurs will now look to bounce back against Borussia Dortmund in Germany on Tuesday, when victory will guarantee they go through as group winners to the Champions League last 16.

"It is important to remember we played without him for 10 months - and without Lamela for more than year. It won't taste good to lose two games in a row". He just needs to build and then wait for his opportunity when we believe that he can play. You want to try to find a situation.
