Martin Truex Jr.'s performance has been impressive, the 14-year veteran dominated the field and has been nothing short of flawless with seven victories this season.

Right behind him was fellow NASCAR Playoffs Championship 4 competitor Martin Truex Jr.in the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota at 172.529 mph.

"I don't know how you put into words what it would mean for him to win". Although his best finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway was second in 2006, he is definitely the favorite to win the race and become NASCAR's newest champion.

NASCAR has spent so much time this year ushering in a new generation of fresh-faced, young drivers. It's not the end of the world. "I didn't have a sponsor or team, and I didn't know of any opportunities".

Busch and Truex both drive Toyotas, and this championship finale is between them and a pair of Ford drivers. "We finally caught the car and didn't know what to do with it".

So Ryan Blaney, Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson and Austin Dillon will have to wait their turn.

The victory also would be the third championship for SHR since 2011, when Tony Stewart signed on as a co-owner.

Truex and the team struggled in 2014, then started to perform better in 2015.

But it is the Toyota camp that fiercely believes the championship belongs to them. His session was cut early, and he was 14th on the speed charts after running just 12 laps as the team worked to replace the engine. He was in a violent wreck on the restart, Jimmie Johnson won a seventh title in a Chevrolet, and Edwards retired about two months later. "I still go back to last year, and every time, I still get angry. But to be honest, we will be very disappointed if we don't seal this with a championship".
