According to US-based investment information provider, Valuewalk which received the tip from anonymous sources, Samsung has plans to release a Galaxy S9 mini in 2018.

The smartphone listed on the FCC website bears a model number A530N.

Samsung Galaxy A series is the mid-range premium one from the company with the A7, A5 and A3 usually being launched.

By having a first impression of the Galaxy S9 through these CAD renders, Samsung might think of having a change of heart as far as the camera positioning goes.

Even if the tipster is wrong, keep in mind that Samsung delayed the Galaxy S8 launch by a few weeks this year, as it still had to deal with the Galaxy Note 7 disaster. It is also said that the next-gen A series Samsung smartphone may come with improved camera department compared to its predecessors.

As a refresher, both the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are powered by the Snapdragon 835 chipset, have 4 GB of RAM, and feature a 12 MP camera. On the software front, the Galaxy S7 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Now, the iPhone SE is a 4-inch smartphone that Apple introduced back in March 2016 with mostly iPhone 6s internals, and that phone has seen great success in the market despite the fact that it looks completely identical to the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s which have been announced a long time ago. The Galaxy S9 is expected to ditch the fingerprint sensor and introduce some kind of facial recognition technology as well as Samsung's existing iris scanner. Going by the rumours, the S9 series of phones are expected to come with S8-like infinity display. It's nice to see these older smartphone being upgraded to Nougat, now if only they would release the Oreo update for the newer devices. It is also noteworthy that Samsung hasn't revealed any details about these upcoming smartphones as of yet.
