But after a relatively encouraging start which included three straight wins over Macedonia, Liechtenstein and Albania, following a 3-1 loss to Italy in the opener, the blue-and-white completely capitulated in the second half of its campaign.

Six fans were arrested in Israel after they ran onto the pitch at the end of the World Cup qualifier in Jerusalem.

ISCO was allegedly approached by a pitch invader carrying a KNIFE during Spain's win in Israel.

According to Israeli website Ynet, one fan made a beeline for Real Madrid star Isco, dropping a knife to the ground just as police intercepted him.

The Israeli Football Association has denied claims the supporter was carrying a knife.

"We do not know yet where these reports have come from, they are false".

Spain have now qualified for next summer's competition in Russia.

Consequently, Pepe Reina comes in between the sticks, Nacho Monreal, Nacho Fernandez and Cesar Azpilicueta enter the back four, Asier Illarramendi partners Sergio Busquets in midfield and trio Marco Asensio, Pedro Rodriguez and Aritz Aduriz form a new-look trident up top.

"I do not think Spain was received in a stadium outside their country with as much affection as here, especially Isco who received shouts and banners".

Put another way, there were no Israeli fans in the stadium with weapons.

Sadly, however, that's not stopped the Isco story from going viral. "The usual security measures were carried out last night, during and after the game", he said.
