Earlier on Tuesday, the Sun reported that Costa had returned to Spain in an effort to get talks going.

The Spanish striker was acquired from Real Madrid over the summer to help fill the striking void created by global team-mate Diego Costa.

Los Rojiblancos hope to conclude a deal in the coming days that allows Costa to train with the Diego Simeone's squad and be fit and raring to go when the club's transfer embargo is lifted.

Diego Costa is finally set to return to Europe, after a series of false claims, Marca reckon this time it's true and the Spanish global will be ending his three month holiday in Brazil.

Costa swapped Madrid for London in the summer of 2014 and has since racked up one hundred and twenty times scoring fifty-nine goals while he has helped them win two Premier League titles and the League Cup.

The Blues have now however chose to talk figures with Atletico, and while the full details of the deal have yet to be made available, it's believed that they will eventually close an agreement to transfer the player for a fee of €60m - a club record for Atletico.

Even if Atletico had managed to agree a deal before the transfer window closed, Costa would not have been eligible to play until January due to the club's transfer ban.

Costa, 28, rejected the chance to move to the Chinese Super League past year and Fenerbahce recently, holding out for an emotional return to Atletico.
