The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met Holocaust survivors on a visit to a Nazi concentration camp today. Prince William and Princess Kate were accompanied by their two young children.

Later the royal couple visited the port city of Gdansk, where large crowds turned out to see them. Stutthof was the first camp to be built in Poland at the beginning of the Second World War.

British survivors of the camp, Manfred Goldberg and Zigi Shipper, both 87, from London, made a trip to the camp - the first time they had returned - to meet William and Kate.

During their tour the Royal couple were shown discarded shoes, clothing and other personal items, once belonging to prisoners. They also paid a visit to the Warsaw Uprising Museum. This shattering visit has reminded us of the horrendous murder of six million Jews, drawn from across the whole of Europe, who died in the abominable Holocaust.
